INVESTIGATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE
HIV POSITIVE WASHOUT SYMPTOMS
HIVcauses progressive loss of immune function over a long period of time. Treatment with newer therapies may reduce disease progression.
IF YOU or someone you know is HIV-infected and without symptoms and would be interested in participating in a research study involving an investigational treatment for HIV, we may be able to help you.
Currently there is a nationwide research study involving more than 30 centers. The product under investigation may help you maintain your immune system longer.
Those who qualify for entry into the program will have study related medical costs covered. Some qualifying criteria are: You are at least 18 years of age.
You are HIV positive.
You do not have any current symptoms.
Your CD4 count is between 100-400 cells/mm3. If female and of childbearing potential, you must be practicing effective contraception.
For additional qualifications and further information, you can call the following toll free number at any time: 1-800-584-6866.

Write to your Representatives and ask them to co-sponsor this bill, H.R. 4370. They need to hear from their constituents. Only you can make this happen. The survival of people with AIDS depends on you getting familiar with this program. This is the only

THE AIDS COALITION TO UNLEASH POWER
CLEVELAND
On the board, some of our members are in the protocol selection committee, which oversees and studies future trials to be held at our AIDS Clinical Trials Unit. Some of our members are on the accrual committee, which assures that all communities are represented, and we assist in language barriers. We are also active in the North Coast HIV/ AIDS Coalition, HAGA (Hispanics Against Getting AIDS), the Ohio AIDS Coalition, the Living Room, and many others. We are working with the Health Department of Cleveland City Council, and the Cleveland mayor's office to bring more monies and to make AIDS a priority for the White administration.
We recently helped with the "What About AIDS?" exhibition at the Cleveland Health Museum. We go to colleges, high schools and anywhere that people will listen. We lobby our representatives locally and in Washington. We will not rest until the AIDS crisis is ended. "Our anger comes from our pain."
What we need from you is for you to help us end the AIDS crisis. One way of achieving this is by helping us make the AIDS Cure Act a reality. This bill is our very last hope to end this genocide. Medical research is stifled by conflict of interest and the policy of secrecy. Thirteen years of failed research should be a red flag to all of us. How can a researcher look objectively at compounds he has a direct investment in?
With the project being centered in New York City where there is a high concentration of people with AIDS, it assures all people
bill that has ever called for a cure for AIDS. A cure constitutes a normal functioning immune system with a normal lifespan and quality of life.
We need your rage, your anger and your compassion to help us end this crisis. Call us. Visit us. Come to our meetings. We need your help to continue this fight. Some of our members have died and some are getting sicker and will not be able to tackle some of these issues.
We at ACT UP would like to dedicate this article to our fallen comrades, Zak Haley, Gordon Jones, Josh Stier, Joel Bogard and thousands of others. We would also like to thank those who participated in our benefit at Legends, hosted by Crickett Ann Night. We are eternally grateful. And a special thanks to the entertainers who helped make this event a great success. Melissa Ross, Carol Channing, Twiggy, Cinnamone, Big Mama, Ginger Manchester, and the owners of Legends, Lonnie, Mary and Vince. Thanks for hosting the event. Also thanks to Michael Sigliano and Brian Lopez for all their help, and to our stage hand Sean.
Our next benefit is a production of Falsettos on November 13, 7:30 pm at the Jewish Community Center's Halle Theater, on Mayfield Rd. just east of Taylor in Cleveland Hts. (across from Severance shopping mall). Tickets are available through ACT UP. Call 621-2233. See you there.
